Our 2006 Cabernet-Merlot was selected by Wine Press Northwest as Best Buy of the week in their newsletter. That's great news for a great wine, but
the bad news is that it was so great it's sold out. The good news is that the 2007 Cabernet-Merlot is released and is still that great price and a fantastic wine. We know that you'll enjoy it.

In the vineyards we are currently hand picking Riesling and have finished up harvesting the Syrah for our famous Nouveau! We will have that ready soon and it will be a great wine to pair up with turkey, ham or any white meat for your Thanksgiving meals.

Claar Cellars 13th Annual “HELP STOMP OUT BREAST CANCER” Grape Stomp, October 3,4,5!

Claar Cellars’ 13^th Annual “Help Stomp Out Breast Cancer” event will be held at their tasting room in Zillah, WA south of Yakima at Exit 52 off I-82 Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct 2-4, 2009, 10am until 6pm. Barrels of grapes will be available all three days for practice and pictures. During the Grape Stomper Competition on Saturday beginning at 3pm until the finish, teams of two will stomp grapes in cut off wine barrels, one in the barrel stomping and one to catch the juice in a wine bottle. The fastest team will be named Champion Grape Stompers. A $5 entry fee for each team of Stompers will be donated to the American Cancer Society. There will be no fee for practice rounds, but donations will be accepted. Handouts and information about Breast Cancer will be available.

CLAAR CELLARS’ Busty Blush, Rose’ Table Wine will be available for purchase. Claar Cellars continues to donate $1 for each bottle sold to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, Seattle WA in support of breast cancer research. Contact John Claar Whitelatch for information 509-829-6810.

Artist, Dixie Rogerson-Bill, created the art for the Busty Blush label. She has been painting and creating original art for over fifty years. Her work has a mixture of realism, fantasy and nature. By working in many media a freshness is developed in the expressing color, pattern and design. Dixie is one of America’s Naiveté’ Artists. The Busty Blush label recently won a Tasters Guild International Wine Label Design Competition 2007 Label of Creative Achievement Award.

Just got my hands on the Fall 2009 Wine Press Northwest and it contains a great review of our 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon!

Mentioning aromas of black and red currants, sweet plums and pie cherries they gave this cab an "Excellent" rating. Swing by the tasting room and enjoy this excellent wine!

Here's a little blurb about our 2007 Ice Wine. Here's to a 2008's!

PASCO, WA The German Government's Ministry of Economics, Transportation, Agriculture and Viticulture recently launched an initiative to reintroduce the world to Premium white wine. A key component of their program was the "2000 Best of Riesling", an International competition designed to call attention to Riesling as a Premium grape variety. More than 1700 wines from ten countries and four continents competed with the top 25 in each category identified. In the category of Trockenbeerenauslese and Iesweins, botrytis affected and/or lusciously sweet, Riesling wines, CLAAR CELLARS’ 1997 Botrytisized Riesling Ice Wine was one of the top 25 of 314 worldwide entries. Claar Cellars' Ice Wine was the only wine in the top 25 not of German or Austrian origin.

Child's Play Charity

Claar Cellars is proud to announce that for the second year we have been given the opportunity to sponsor the wine at the Child's Play Charity dinner and auction December 9th in Seattle Wasington.

From their website:

"Q: What is Child’s Play?
A: Child’s Play is a Seattle based, gamer-run organization that holds an annual toy drive for childrens’ hospitals. Many of the gifts donated by gamers are, as you might imagine, age appropriate videogames and gaming systems - but they are by no means the only things donated. We received eager donations of coloring books, art supplies, crafts, movies, cartoons, virtually anything a young person could ask for. We asked the world-wide community of gamers, and they gave so much we had to move to larger storage facilities three separate times.

Our 2006 event raised over one million dollars in toys and cash for 40 children’s hospitals around the US and the world, putting the community’s total contribution level since our inception at the two million dollar mark. This year, we’ve expanded Child’s Play again, including more partners in the US and internationally."

Thanksgiving in Wine Country!

It's that time of year again, a slight chill to the air ,the most beautiful colors painted across the trees and 30 cases of Nouveau have wandered into the tasting room.

This year for Thanksgiving in wine country we will be once again spotlighting our Nouveau Syrah, we even have a great lapel pin showing off the label art.

Help Claar Cellars Stomp Out Breast Cancer!

Claar Cellars is once again holding it's annual grape stomp the first weekend in October. Here's a flyer about it, I'll just let it do all the talking! It's a little big, but, for now it sums it up nicely.
